GARTEN_SAAL    HERXHEIM, GERMANY, 2007 The community of Herxheim, Germany, initiated an invited competition to remodel the city's festive hall built in the 1950. INSTANT suggested an addition connecting the front square with the back yard in order to relate the interior spaces with the open public spaces. A generous lobby mediates between the existing big festive hall and the new garden hall, which has the main opening into the garden area. A contemporary 'inlay' - the new lobby, kitchen, and garden hall - upgrades the existing facilities and formulates a vocabulary in contrast to the existing building turning it back into a meeting point and club also for a younger generation.
